ADONIS HELPS YOUNG STUDENTS

Black Country students were given the chance to try out a career in construction thanks to a National Construction Week 'taster day' initiative sponsored by Kingswinford-based Adonis Construction.

The taster day took place at City of Wolverhampton College and was organised jointly by the college and the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club, a unique bridge between industry, clients, government and the research community, in conjunction with Constructing Excellence and West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence.

Around 160 year 7 and 8 students from schools across the region attended the different taster events at the college's Wellington Road campus. The sessions all spotlighted a different facet of the construction industry and offered 'hands on' experience of brickwork, carpentry, painting and decorating, surveying and levelling, groundwork and plumbing.

Commenting on the event, Adonis Construction's business development manager Adam Frankling, who is also an officer of the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club, said:

"Young people are the lifeblood of the building industry, which is why Adonis is a keen supporter of National Construction Week. The Construction Trades Taster Day is especially valuable, as it reaches children before they have made their course choices and shows them how many different and exciting opportunities there are in the industry.

"We're delighted to have been involved and look forward to seeing some of the youngsters coming into the building trade in years to come."
